Why Is This Important?
NurseHack4Health believes that nurses have the knowledge, skills and creativity to make healthcare better. By joining NH4H events, nurses can:
  • Work in environments where they can grow and succeed.
  • Learn to be leaders who inspire new ideas.
  • Share and develop their ideas to improve healthcare.
  • Understand the importance of innovation and how they can make a difference at work.
  • Use technology and teamwork to solve big challenges in healthcare.

What Is the NH4H Hackathon?

The NH4H Hackathon is a creative, hands-on workshop. It lasts one day and teaches nurses how to use design thinking, a way to solve problems by focusing on the people involved. This workshop, created for the International Council of Nurses (ICN) event, helps participants:

  • Learn why being creative and solving problems in new ways is important.
  • Practice working with others to understand problems and think of solutions.
  • Create ideas that are innovative and sustainable.
  • Share and reflect on how to bring these new ideas back to their workplaces.

How Does It Work?

The NH4H process is similar to how nurses care for patients. It includes these steps:

  1. Identify the problem by observing and understanding the issue.
  2. Work together with people from different backgrounds to create ideas.
  3. Imagine solutions that could make things better.
  4. Test, improve, and repeat until the best solution is found.

This process is flexible and can be used in any organization to help create change.

Who can participate
All participants already registered for the ICN Congress are eligible to sign up for the Hackathon.

Pre-Congress Cost

This is a free event.

What Happens After the Workshop?

When the workshop is done, participants will get a guide (called a playbook) to help them use what they learned. They can also:

  • Apply for the NH4H Pitch-A-Thon, where they can be awarded grant funding to bring their ideas to life.
  • Meet other nurses and innovators to build a network of support and inspiration.
